Hey everyone! I haven’t posted an update in a little bit so figured it was time. Let’s get right into it with what I want to cover:
1 – Speech Bubbles:
I hate them. They’re square, and with my current approach too inflexible and cramped. I’ve started building vector based bubbles to replace them so expect the bubble format to change next upload.
2 – Focusing In:
As some of you may know I started out on Patreon by making photorealistic anthro themed stuff. While it was cool it’s just not aligned with DSP and the comics. I have a lot more fun making the comics and those that subscribe do so for the stories with pretty clear metrics to back it up.
I’m discontinuing the photorealism stuff. I want to put all my effort into creating things in the DSP comic world.
3 – Better Quality Control
The Naomi comic… ah man. I should have waited. It was rushed. The story was too short and I didn’t even draw the hair styles consistently in some panels.
I’m adding a cool down period to my releases before posting. Getting someone else to proof read them first and look for errors or improvements. It’s going to add a bit of production time but I want you all to have a quality experience.
4 – Length and Lore
Now that I’m focusing 100% on the comics I’m going to do longer stories. You may have noticed the latest release (Akemi) was twice the length of my standard work. I’m also hoping with the longer format I can start to flesh out the DSP Universe.
I’ve added the ‘DSPedia’ to the top bar of the site as a supplementary framework section for things about the world as it’s built out.
5 – Addressing Feedback
Recent feedback on the DSP PetGirl stories highlighted a couple things for me.
First off, recent proofing errors. I had to re-issue Akemi 3 times for issues related to grammar and spelling. I came to find out my text editor of choice suddenly stopped proofing. As I said above in bullet 3 I’m taking steps to prevent that kind of issue in the future.
Secondly was a complaint with the world building and how it didn’t seem to really matter in the context of the comics. I kind of agree. I think the stories lacked complexity in a lot of ways so far. I’ll be paying more attention to pacing and adding detail to the world as I go forward.
I want these characters to be something you can invest in and care about. Not just watch get fucked… although that’s an important part too.
Thanks for sticking around as this project develops and changes.
Stay wild folks โ
